Printer Repair
As with all complicated mechanical devices, ID card printers will unfortunately suffer from wear and tear and if left for long enough, may require repairing or replacing major components of the printer.
To help prevent repairs we recommend regular printer maintenance, including cleaning your printer every time you change your ribbon or once every 3-6 months, whichever happens first. In addition to using these cleaning kits, we recommend using a can of compressed air (the same product you would use to clean out your keyboard) to make sure that no dust or debris builds up inside the printer.
If the printer still suffers a failure, the action you can take depend on if the printer is in warranty or out of warranty.
In Warranty Repairs
If your printer is still in warranty and you purchased your printer from AlphaCard, please contact our technical support department at 866-945-6810.
We will assist you in troubleshooting the printer, to make sure that the problem cannot be solved before being sent in for repair. If troubleshooting does not work, we will work with the manufacturer directly to set up a repair to ensure that your issue is solved.
Out of Warranty Repairs
If the printer is out of warranty, even if you did not purchase your printer from Alphacard, we are able to setup a repair to replace any parts that might be needed.
To begin the process, please contact our sales department at 866-945-7577.
All out of warranty repairs are subject to an upfront non-refundable $250 evaluation fee. This evaluation fee covers examining the printer and determining if the issue is able to be replicated. If the printer is indeed in need of a repair, the $250 will be applied directly to the final cost of your repairs.
Once the $250 evaluation fee has been paid, we will email you shipping instructions for the printer. Please make sure that you follow these instructions – any damage that occurs during shipping will have to be replaced and repaired before the printer can be evaluated. This will add both time and cost to your printer repair.
Once the repair is done you will be responsible for the total cost of the repairs, and any expedited shipping that you have requested.
