Setting up Signatures in Standard

Signatures are often used as badge authentication in scenarios where needed to verify the identity of the cardholder are incredibly important. AlphaCard School ID Standard allows you to collect signature in the database and use them on your badge designs.

Setting Up Signatures

Please Note: If you have not already installed the signature pad drivers, please do so before taking any other actions.

If you only want to collect signatures for your records, then you need to setup a Storage Item to store the signature into your database.

  1. To do so, click on the configuration tab.
  2. Then Click on Database Setup.
  3. Click Next until you are on the last page of the database setup wizard.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Name the Storage Object (signature usually works the best), and then select the table in the database you want to save the signature, select the primary key of the database, and the field containing the signature.
  6. Once that is done, go to the Photos/Signatures tab, and select that the field is being used for storing the signature.
  7. Click Finish to save.
  8. Once you have done this, to add a signature box to your template, first go to your Configuration tab.
  9. Select Template Designer
  10. Go to the Insert tab
  11. Click on the Image button. Then click on the card where you want the signature.
  12. On the Insert New Object dialogue box, select the signature option from the object type box Then select the signature database field from the column drop down field. Click close to add the object to the card.
  13. Once the signature is on the card, close and exit out of the template designer. The image in the signature database field will now be displayed and printed on the card.
