Setting up Magnetic Encoding in Professional
In school environments, it can be incredibly useful to put a magnetic strip onto a student or staff ID, as this allows identification cards to fulfill multiple uses simultaneously.
Setting Up Magnetic Stripe Encoding
Please Note: Encoding cards with magnetic data requires a printer and cards that are capable of magnetic encoding. If you are unsure if your printer possesses these capabilities, please contact the company you purchased your printer from for your printer details.
- Go to the Configuration Tab.
- Click on Template Designer to add a magnetic strip to an existing template.
- In the Template Designer, select the Page Layout tab.
- Then check the box for Magnetic Stripe
- Once the magnetic stripe is on the card, select it.
- In the Properties window off to the right, under the content tab, check tracks that you want encoded.
- Link the track to the database field you want encoded onto the card. This can be anything that you want, as long as the column’s’ data conforms to the limitations of that track.
- Select the printer that you are going to be encoding on and click Apply Defaults. This will set the program to use the standard printer encoding settings.
