How to Resolve a Card Jam in a DTC4500

If your cards keep jamming when you try to print with your Fargo DTC4500 printer, there are several steps you can take to resolve the issue.

Please Note: The Fargo DTC1000 has been discontinued by the manufacturer. If you need a new printer, the AlphaCard System Selector can help you find the best printer for your needs.

How to Resolve Card Jams

  1. Update your printer’s drivers and firmware to the newest versions.
  2. Clean your printer. Regularly cleaning the printer will keep out dust and debris, which can damage the print head.
  3. Try printing one card at a time.
  4. Try using a different pack of cards. Watch this video on how to load cards.
  5. Ensure that you are using the correct power supply (each printer comes with a power supply). Also make sure that the printer is not plugged into a surge protector.
  6. Check the cleaning roller on the ribbon cartridge. The adhesive tape may have come apart/loose and is interfering with the movement of the card in the card feed path. Replace cleaning roller.dtc4500_cleaning-roller
