UltraCard

UltraCard
Fargo Electronics manufactures two kinds of blank ID card for use in Fargo DTC ID badge printers: the UltraCard T and UltraCard III. Because of their superior composition, both blank ID card types are designated as “graphic-quality” PVC stock. However, there are differences between the two types of cards.
UltraCard T ID cards have a clear, glossy laminate of PVC on both their top and bottom surfaces. Before being shipped, they are inspected optically to make sure that a clean, scratch-free surface will receive dye from the ID card printer's ribbon. UltraCard T ID cards provide moderate durability.
UltraCard III cards provide maximum durability, as well as the highest possible quality for the finished print. Similar to the UltraCard T cards, the UltraCard III has clear PVC laminate on their surfaces, but UltraCard III ID cards have a polyester core that makes up 40% of their mass. It is this core that keeps them from warping during lamination. Only ID cards made of UltraCard III cardstock can receive Fargo PolyGuardT or thermal transfer overlaminates.
The alternative to buying graphic-quality blank ID cards is buying non-graphic-quality plastic cards. While these low or video quality ID badges are acceptable for some uses, they cannot withstand typical demands placed upon an ID card used as an access card or time card.
