Like many schools, Cal State Fullerton is finding new ways to increase the functionality of its student ID cards. This year, students can use their TitanCards for a variety of services including cashless payment, discount and rewards programs, and even keyless entry to dorms and other school facilities.

One of the more convenient new features of the TitanCard is its ability to carry funds for purchases both on campus and off. Students and their parents can load the card up with money to be used for books and other school expenses. And now the TitanCard can also be linked to a local bank account, which essentially turns it into a fully functional debit card good for making purchases anywhere, not just select campus locations. This is a great way to ease students into the process of managing their own money without risking the pitfalls of credit card debt.
As a way to increase school spirit, Cal State Fullerton has set up a points program that rewards students for attending campus events. If a student swipes their card while entering a football game, for instance, a certain amount of rewards points are granted. Once the student earns enough points, he or she can claim a prize. Kind of like skee-ball, but the prizes are probably better.
What else does the TitanCard do? It doubles as a bus pass, allowing students to ride Orange County bus lines for free. The card is also programmable to allow students access to areas where not everyone is permitted, for instance dormitories, science labs, and other secure rooms and facilities.
