With a new school year comes new functions for student ID cards at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Expanding on the current services offered by the Maverick Card, the school’s ID cards will now serve as both a debit card and a parking card allowing room for more versatility for students.

Students and parents can go online to add money to their Maverick accounts or parking funds using a credit or debit card. Maverick funds can now be used for purchases in the MCTC bookstore, cafeteria and other on campus eateries, and the MCTC parking ramp. For added convenience, other parking facilities in the Twin Cities will also accept the parking funds loaded on the card.
Down the road, MCTC is hoping to expand the ID program to offer a 12 percent discount on food purchased using the card. MCTC is also looking into a partnership with a bank so that cardholders can use their student ID cards like debit cards with participating local retailers.
