Here’s something you might never think about — make sure to always print your ID cards out first before using a slot punch.  Inserting PVC cards into your ID card printer that already have holes in them or other imperfections and/or indentations can, as a result, cause extensive damage to your printer.  Make sure that your cards are free of imperfections before running them through the ID card printer to prevent breakage.

Once your cards have been printed, you can then use your slot punch tool to create holes for attaching lanyards, clips, and badge reels. To ensure an even hole, consider investing in a slot punch that comes with a centering guide for correctly measured slots or holes. For large-scale printing jobs, you’ll want to go with an electric slot punch to save time.
