Zebra’s ZXP Series 8 ID card printer is on display at the ASIS International conference in Anaheim. The Zebra ZXP Series 8 is the company’s new foray into the world of retransfer card printing. Retransfer (or high-definition) printing is an innovative process where the elements of your card design, such as images and text, are printed on the reverse side of a special film which is then fused to the card surface. The process results in photo-quality cards with true over-the-edge printing.

What makes the Zebra ZXP Series 8 special is its speed. Zebra reports that the printer can produce top-quality photo IDs at up to twice the speed of other high-definition card printers. The printer is ideal for high-volume, high-security card applications such as driver’s licenses, employee IDs, financial cards, and more.
The retransfer printing process not only makes cards more secure, but also adds a layer of protection from the wear and tear of everyday use. Additionally, retransfer printing is the preferred method for printing on cards with uneven surfaces, such as smart cards and other technology cards with embedded electronics. The Zebra ZXP Series 8 ID card printer offers several advanced encoding options, including magnetic stripe, and contact and contactless smart card encoding.
