Happy Earth Day from AlphaCard! We recently launched our new Green ID section of the AlphaCard Store and added information to our Learning Center on what it means to be green in the ID industry. In celebration of all things Earth-friendly, we’re sharing a few tips and tricks for how to give your ID card program an eco-conscious edge.

1. Use printer supplies made out of recycled materials – Using recycled PVC cards, like those included in our Green Accessory and Supply Pack, is an environmentally friendly alternative to standard PVC cards. The cards are made out of 100 percent recycled plastic and still offer outstanding print quality and durability, while reducing your impact on the environment.
2. Style your ID cards with eco-friendly accessories – Many of the products featured in the new Green ID Store are ID badge accessories. Using accessories made from sustainable and recycled materials will securely and prominently display ID cards while scoring green points for your ID card program. AlphaCard offers a selection of lanyards made from 100 percent P.E.T. recycled plastic or bamboo, phthalates-free badge holders, and strap clips made from recycled materials.
3. Start using ID cards for applications that traditionally use paper – ID cards are versatile tools that can be programmed for multiple functions. Many of the functions ID cards perform eliminate the need to use as much paper, one of the primary supplies in any office. For instance, ID cards can be used for timekeeping, which gets rid of the need for paper time cards. Customer loyalty and rewards programs that previously used paper punch cards can switch to ID cards, which track and record points and discounts. Student ID cards are embracing the paperless functions of ID cards too. Most student ID programs today use a paperless ticketing system for admittance to school sporting events.
