Havana Country Club in Havana, Florida, has announced that golfers who wish to play on Havana’s noted Executive courses will need to carry their ID for the Villages. The Villages, an exclusive retirement community located in north central Florida, has had problems with non-residents using the courses without permission.

Officials with the Villages stated that the golf courses are for the exclusive use of The Villages residents and guests, who pay for the services through neighborhood fees, and should have exclusive access to the golf courses that they support. Showing their ID cards, a resident golf pro says, helps protect the choice greens for the users who fund them.
Information about The Villages ID cards was not available – but the cards are presumably printed with an Entry Level ID Card System and include a picture of the resident and their address. If counterfeit and card tampering becomes a problem, the Villages could create cards with embedded security measures like magnetic stripes or smart cards to help curb a continuing trespassing problem. Embedded security measures could also transform the ID card from a simple security measure to a multifunctional card that can be used not only on the golf course, but in the pro shop, locker room, country club restaurant, and commercial sites within The Villages.
