You’re probably familiar with the standard CR80 (credit card size) cards, but have you ever printed and used key tags? These small cards are popular with retail rewards and loyalty programs, gyms, and more!

Key tags, so called because they are often placed on the cardholder’s key ring, can still be designed and printer from your card design software and card printer. You can buy key tags in several ways – as bundle packs (full size card and key tag in the same pack), 2-up style (2 slightly larger key tag cards per pack) and 3-up style (3 smaller cards per pack).

But what can you do with these key tags?

  • Retail loyalty programs – print your logo on the front & barcode on the back, and members can scan they card every time they show, and since it’s attached to their keys they can’t forget it at home
  • Membership programs – do members get special discounts at your store, and deals at other retailers? Their membership card is always on hand with key tags
  • Gym & health clubs – if you need to show a membership card to get into your gym or health club, make it easy for your members with key tags
  • Student ID cards – in addition to a full-size card with the student’s information, key tags can also be used for payments in the cafeteria and to check out library books

One important thing to note about printing key tags – you cannot run a single key tag through the printer. You’ll need to print all the cards in the pack, and separate them out after printing.
