Lanyards are the most popular ID accessory because they are easy to use and come in a wide variety of styles. Pins & Magnets
If you worry about ID badges getting caught on machinery, doors, or other objects while working, you may want to use an ID badge pin or magnet instead. Many pins and magnets will use an adhesive to attach to your ID card, which you can then clip on to your clothing. Please note, however, that you should not use magnetic attachments with magnetic stripe cards as this may damage the cards.

Top 10 ID Attachment Types
ID accessories come with a wide variety of attachments, which gives you the flexibility to choose the style that works best for your ID program. Many of these attachments are specific to lanyards, although some badge reels let you choose an attachment type.
Consider these questions while selecting your attachments: Do you need your ID cards to stay facing forward at all times for security purposes, or would you like them to easily swivel to reveal the backside? Do you need to easily add and take off cards, or do you need them to be secured? Will you need to hold more than one ID card or other item? How important is it that the cards hang level?
Bulldog Clip
This clip is used with slot-punched cards or holders with a horizontal slot. Simply squeeze the clip in order to quickly attach or remove your badge. Bulldog clips hold your badge totally straight and level, and are available in both swivel and non-swivel versions.
Swivel Hook
Swivel hooks are small metal hooks that are easy to use and can hold more than one ID card or other items. A popular choice, swivel hooks allow your ID cards to easily flip around; however they may not keep cards level.
Trigger Snap Swivel Hook
Trigger hooks may also be called lobster claws, although they are different types of attachments. A trigger hook has a small lever that you use to easily open and close the clip. This attachment type will allow your ID card to easily flip around, however it may not keep the cards level.
Lobster Claw
Metal lobster claws are designed similar to the popular swivel hooks, with an easy-to-use design that opens when you push against the clip. A lobster claw can hold more than one ID card, and will allow cards to easily rotate, but the cards may not hang level.
Thin Plastic
Thin plastic hooks are easy to use; you open them by pressing in on the clip. A thin plastic hook can hold more than one ID card, and will keep them from flipping around. Because of the thin design, cards may not hang level.
Wide Plastic
Wide plastic hooks are similar in design to thin plastic hooks, but their wide size keeps badges facing forward and level. Wide plastic hooks can hold more than one ID card, will keep cards from flipping around, and will also ensure cards hang level.
Non-Swivel J-Hook
Similar to thin or wide plastic hooks, metal J-hook attachments open when you push on the clip. The solid non- swivel design will keep your ID cards facing forward for security, but the thin design may not keep cards level.
Split Ring
A split ring, or key ring, attachment is the best option for holding multiple ID cards, keys, tools, or other items on a single lanyard or badge reel. If you attach multiple ID cards note that only the top card will be visible to security.
Card Clamp
The only attachment option to work with cards that have not been slot punched or placed in a badge holder, a card clamp uses pressure to securely grab onto the card. Card clamps work with standard 30 mil ID cards.
Vinyl Strap
Available on badge reels or on clothing clips, these clear straps go through the slot on a card or badge holder to attach the card. With an optional reinforced design, a vinyl strap keeps badges level.
