When you think of a pet cat, it’s easy to picture one curled up by a fireplace or outdoors walking along a fence.  But as a school mascot, is that even possible? Leland High School in San Jose, California seems to think so, because for several years now Bubba the Cat has been an everyday sight.  Described as a “chill cat,” Bubba prefers to spend his days mingling with students and attending classes at the high school.

The school has been more than happy to let Bubba explore the halls, walk in and out of classrooms, and even inspect lockers.  He encourages students to attend class and will stick around for a nice petting when he feels like it.  You’ll also see teachers giving him treats on a regular basis. And just recently Bubba was given his very own student ID card as proof that both the school and students love him.  And we certainly approve!
