Magicard HoloKote

Incorporating holographs into your ID cards brings multiple benefits. Holographic overlays make cards less susceptible to wear and tear from everyday use, extending their life span up to three or four times that of normal plastic cards. Cards with holographic overlays are also more visually secure than their non-holographic counterparts; adding a holograph to a card reduces the likelihood that the card in question will be counterfeited or tampered with. Ultra Magicard takes card security very seriously, which is why most Magicard printers provide HoloKote, a special holographic overlay technology that allows users to apply a secure watermark across the surface of each printed card. The HoloKote system can benefit ID programs of all types by improving card durability and security. Best of all, the standard HoloKote system provides these benefits at no additional cost.

Like other types of holographic overlays, HoloKote applies a distinctive watermark pattern across the surface of the card. This takes place during the card-printing process, and for users of Magicard printers such as the Enduro, Rio, Tango, Alto and Opera, the HoloKote system is a cost-free feature that comes standard. The Magicard Enduro even allows users to choose from four fixed HoloKote patterns (rings, globes, keys, and waves).

HoloKote Key

For those who wish to customize their watermark, Magicard also offers a special HoloKote Key for an additional cost. You provide your logo, or the watermark image of your choice, and Magicard then creates your custom HoloKote Key. The HoloKote Key is an encrypted memory card that stores your customized watermark design. It can also serve as a locking key for your printer to ensure that only authorized users will be able to print cards with the secure watermark.

The HoloKote Key plugs into Magicard Rio 2e, Tango 2e, and Tango +L ID card printers. It’s available in two different formats: HoloKote Flex which allows you to have your logo watermarked at any size and placed anywhere across the card, and the HoloKote Custom Key which presents your logo watermark as a fixed 6x4 grid pattern across the card.
