Setting Up Barcode Automatic Check In with Standard

When setting up a visitor check in station, one of the most used technologies in the visitor management industry are barcodes. AlphaCard Visitor Pass allows you to use barcodes to automatically check a visitor in or out.

To begin, you will want to ensure that the barcode column that you are going to use is assigned to your card design.

Setting Up Barcodes

Go to the Configuration tab.
Select Badge Designer.
To put a barcode on your card select the Insert tab, and then click on the option for Linear Barcode. Click on the card where you want the barcode to be displayed.
A new window will open for you to put information into the barcode. Select the symbology that your scanners can read. If you do not know, please contact where you purchased the scanner from. If you bought the scanner from AlphaCard all of our scanners can read code 39, which is standard for most industries.
Select the column that you want linked to your barcode. We recommend using the barcode database field. This field is automatically linked to the barcode automatic check in process.
Once the choice is made, click Close. You should now see the barcode on your visitor badge.
Save the design and exit from the badge designer.

Next you will want to ensure that the barcode automatic check in feature is enabled in AlphaCard Visitor Pass.

Setting Up Barcode Automatic Check In

Go to the Configuration tab.
Click Advanced Options.
On the general tab, scroll down to bottom of the screen. Under Automatic Search Options make sure that Barcode Search Automatic Check-in and Barcode Search Automatic Check-out are selected as per your needs.
Click OK.
