How to Update Firmware in a C30e

Keeping your ID card printer’s firmware up to date can help you prevent problems with printing.

Please Note: The Fargo C30e has been discontinued by the manufacturer. If you need a new printer, the AlphaCard System Selector can help you find the best printer for your needs.

To begin updating the firmware on your Fargo C30e ID card printer, you’ll need to download three items from the Fargo website:

  1. The Fargo workbench, which can be downloaded at http://www3.hidglobal.com/drivers/14821
  2. The latest C30e driver, which can be downloaded at https://www3.hidglobal.com/drivers/14794
  3. The latest C30e firmware, which can be downloaded at https://www3.hidglobal.com/drivers/15345

After you have downloaded the driver file, run the driver software and follow the installation instructions.

How to Update Firmware

  1. Open the Fargo Workbench and choose your printer.c30e_workbench
  2. Click on the Update Manager Tab and choose your C30e printer.c30e_workbench_2
  3. Click on Select Firmware File. Browse to the folder that contains the firmware file you downloaded. Click on Beging Updating.c30e_workbench_3
  4. The firmware update will take a few minutes. The printer will restart itself once the update is finished.
