Updating Firmware on a PRO 700

Keeping your ID card printer’s firmware up to date can help you prevent problems with printing.

To begin updating the firmware on your AlphaCard PRO 700 ID card printer, you’ll need to download the latest firmware and drivers.

  1. Download the PRO 700 driver. Do not run this file from the internet, you must download it to your computer.
  2. Download the PRO 700 firmware. Do not run this file from the internet, you must download it to your computer.

Before you begin running the firmware updates, uninstall the current driver version from Add or Remove Programs. If there is a program called “Card Printer,” uninstall it as well. Then reboot your computer.

How to Update Drivers

  1. Double click on the driver you downloaded to start installation.
  2. Click Run, then click Next to verify the available platforms.
  3. Click Restart Windows to complete the installation of the driver. You must restart your computer to successfully install the new driver.
  4. Once the computer is back up, connect your ID card printer. Turn the printer on, and let the Windows Found New Hardware wizard detect and configure the printer.

How to Update Firmware

  1. Double click on the firmware you downloaded to start installation.
  2. Click Run, then click Update.
  3. After the printer initializes, click OK.
