Alpha Card Systems was proud to assist the Alameda County Sheriff's Office in preparing for the recent funeral of four slain Oakland police officers. The four officers were killed in a tragic shooting incident on March 21. It was the deadliest incident involving California law enforcement in nearly four decades. When plans were made to honor the fallen officers, it became obvious that this would be a large-scale event requiring carefully considered security measures.

The Alameda County Sheriff's office contacted AlphaCard with a request for help in producing 800 ID badges for VIP guests at the funeral. Understanding the urgency and sensitivity of the situation, we were happy to provide the sheriff's office with two free loaner printers, along with all the necessary cards and printing supplies to complete the job. The project had to be completed that day, so our team in Marin also offered to print the cards in-house and deliver them personally if need-be. Later that morning, two officers showed up at our Marin office to pick up the equipment and supplies, confident they could print out the cards in time.

The service for the slain officers drew more than 20,000 attendees, plus an overflow crowd, and essentially shut down the city of Oakland for a day. It was a beautiful demonstration of respect for the fallen officers, and AlphaCard was truly honored to play a part in helping the service go smoothly.
