Coalition Forces Find ID Cards Belonging To Two Missing U.S. Soldiers
The U.S. military, on Saturday, said that the Coalition forces have found identification cards belonging to two missing U.S. soldiers, believed to have been abducted from south of Baghdad, last month. The ID cards of Spec. Alex Jimenez and Pvt. Byron Fouty were found when the Coalition forces raided a suspected al Qaeda in Iraq safe house near Samarra on June 9. Also, an Islamic militant group cards issued a video, showing what appeared to be military ID. The Islamic State of Iraq announced the deaths of the two soldiers in commentary on the video, but provided no proof. Brig. Gen. Kevin Bergner, U.S. military spokesman, said that the video did not appear to contain any definitive evidence indicating the status of the missing soldiers and added that there was still hope of finding the missing soldiers alive and in good health.

The futures market
The disturbing discovery of raccoon remains gracing the doorsteps of two Salem businesses on Memorial Day Weekend are mere bits and pieces of the real grim stuff going on among those who call themselves witches and psychics in the city of Salem.
With only so many fortunes to tell and only so many palms to read, traditional psychics, occult shop owners and Halloween event organizers are squabbling over a new ordinance that could tighten the rules on who may be eligible for a permit to practice the trade.Criminal background checks, residency requirements, ID badges and potential fines are all on the table, as well as rules that would reign in some of the psychic fairs and events that hit the city for Halloween. And it?s getting ugly. All sides of these notoriously media-hungry groups are speaking out about death threats, assaults, car vandalism, legal stay-away orders and the desecration of graves. State considers giving IDs to first responders before next disaster
Colorado is now trying to learn from those mistakes.
"You want to know who's coming into the scene and who is going out," said task force member Harley Rinerson of the Colorado Dept. of Military and Veterans Affairs. "Most importantly, when you count noses at the end of the day, you want to have enough noses. You're accounting for medical and emergency personnel, especially in a forest fire." The task force met for the first time Tuesday and is exploring ways to have one standard ID card or set high standards for ID cards that can be used by different counties and local municipalities. Federal Homeland Security grants would pay for the cost of the cards. In September 2005, the Denver County Sheriff's Department issued 1,900 credentials to evacuees who arrived in Colorado from the Gulf Coast without identification. The evacuees used the IDs to get federal and state assistance, housing, food, medical, bus and banking services, according to Captain Craig Meyer of the North Central Region and the Denver County Sheriff's Office. UAE ID cards to include iris scans
From January next year, foreign residents of the UAE will be required to undergo an eye scan to be incorporated into new identity cards that will eventually replace all other forms of official identification, such as health cards, labor permits, residency, and driving licenses. Later, the iris scans will be part of an identity card containing microchip information that all people in the country will be required to carry. Gulf News, quoting officials of the Emirates Identity Authority, said that ID cards containing the iris scan information are only being issued at present to military and other government personnel.
"Registration with the authority will be obligatory for expatriates over 15 years of age from the beginning of next year," said Darwish Ahmed al Zarouni, the head of the issuing authority. He said that the inclusion of iris scans was part of UAE security efforts. The United States does not have a national identification card, and suggestions in the past to adopt one have met stiff opposition from civil liberties advocates Full Article from Metimes.com.

Two million can?t benefit from health insurance scheme
Two million out of the eight million Ghanaians registered under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) have not benefited from the scheme due to delays in issuing them with identity (ID) cards. Consequently, the National Health Insurance Council (NHIC) has instructed scheme managers throughout the country to issue the ID cards on time to do away with the difficulties beneficiaries went through in accessing the scheme. Presently, six million people have received their ID cards and are able to access the scheme. The Director of Operations of the NHIC, Mr O.B. Acheampong, made this known at the weekend during a mass registration of more than 500 people with physical challenges in Accra.
Mr Acheampong said the delay in the issuance of the cards had remained a challenge in the implementation of the scheme. The exercise was organised by the Disabled Christian Fellowship, a non governmental organisation. Full Article from Myjoyonline.com.
