FOREIGN VISITORS ID RULES
ALL foreign nationals will be fingerprinted and made to carry ID cards under Government plans to tighten Britain's borders.A new Borders Bill will also see the automatic deportation of foreign prisoners who have committed a serious offence and been jailed for 12 months or more.Under the plans, all foreign nationals arriving in the UK must give provide fingerprints, digital photographs and iris scans for an identity document.Failure to buy the ID could lead to a £1,000 fine or losing the right to stay in Britain.Immigration Minister Liam Byrne said: "In the last six months I have met hundreds of frontline staff and these are the measures they say they need."They don't stand alone. They are part of a radical shake-up of immigration, which includes £100million extra for enforcement, new technology to count people in and out of Britain and new biometric ID cards."

Beach sheriff's deputy badge is missing
He ordered all the real badges engraved in order to validate them. The badge is still missing, so somewhere there?s a validated badge. Officials have advice for anyone approached by someone claiming to be a deputy. ?We encourage everyone to look for not only a badge but an id card," stressed Capt. Ortiz. Previous 13News Investigations revealed that police captain Marie Chiarizia left her loaded gun in a bathroom at the training center and that a police loaded criminals in the back of a squad car that had a gun hidden under the seat. In light of the missing gun case, the police chief ordered all officers to review safety policies. The Va. Beach sheriff told 13News he plans to issue a similar warning to his deputies.

Insurgents post video of downed copter
A second helicopter also was hit but there were no casualties among its crew, a Washington official said.The Ansar al-Sunnah Army posted with its statement an ID card it claimed was from a man who was on the helicopter. The card bore the name of Arthur Laguna, later identified by his mother as among those killed. Laguna was a 52-year-old pilot for Blackwater, which provides security for State Department officials in Iraq, trains military units from around the world, and works for corporate clients.The crash of Blackwater's small surveillance helicopter was the second in a week associated with the U.S. war effort in Iraq.A U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter went down Saturday northeast of Baghdad, killing all 12 service members on board, including two colonels, one lieutenant colonel and two command sergeants major. It was the largest number of key officers and sergeants killed in a single incident since the Iraq war started nearly four years ago.

Phuket runs out of ?smart? ID cards
PHUKET: People looking to be issued one of the new ?smart? ID cards will have to wait until about mid-year to get their hands on one, as all District Offices on Phuket have run out of the new cards.Phuket City Mayor Somjai Suwannasuppana said that people will have to settle for an old-style card until the Department of Local Administration (DOLA) is able to get more smart cards from the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).Supattra Bhannaros, a registration officer at Phuket City Municipality, explained, ?The ICT Ministry makes the smart cards and DOLA issues them. But now it seems that DOLA is having problems getting the budget to buy more cards from the ICT Ministry.?K. Supattra explained that Phuket City Municipality received 1,000 smart cards directly from DOLA in Bangkok at the beginning of 2006, but has yet to receive more.?Phuket City Municipality will issue the old-style card for people renewing their ID cards or applying for new ID cards. I can?t say when Phuket City Municipality will start issuing smart cards again. We have to wait for DOLA,? K. Supattra said.
