Group making, selling necklaces to send troops care packages
9:14 PM
But word of the necklaces spread. So far, the Blue Star Mothers have sold 35, with orders pending for another 15 to 20.They?ve been popular with hospital employees. Willmar school employees, who also wear ID badges at work, have started buying them. DeBlieck?s friend, Mary Ellen DeCathelineau, has helped with that.DeCathelineau, who works in the office at the Area Learning Center, brought a few samples to school and started taking orders. So far, she?s sold 15 to 20 of them in the school district, she said.No one has complained about the $18 price, DeCathelineau said. In fact, some people have given her a $20 bill and donated the change to the Blue Star Mothers, too.People often wonder what they can do to help service members who are deployed, she said, and the necklaces give them a way to do that.

GHS using ID badges
9:11 PM
GLADSTONE ? School violence has many districts across the nation re-evaluating security issues, including Gladstone High School. All staff at the school recently began wearing ID badges. Visitors are required to wear badges as well. Principal Brady Downey said the new badges provide a quick way to reference who?s who.
?If someone is not wearing a badge, we?d question who they are,? he said. While staff and visitors at the school are required to wear the badges, students are not.
Downey said many schools in the Upper Peninsula are starting to use ID badges. He said the school has never had a problem with unknown visitors entering the school.

Don?t even think about cell phone in courthouse
9:10 PM
Ray Brown, a courthouse security guard, estimates 90 percent of people entering the courthouse carry cell phones. Employees will be exempt, and so will attorneys who carry official photo ID badges. But, unlike at the relatively deserted federal courthouse on Harrison Street, ordinary people won?t be allowed to leave their phones at the security desk. They will have to leave the phones in the car, at home or somewhere else. The number of people using the courthouse is simply too large to do anything else, Noble said.Noble said signs will be posted near affected buildings and in nearby parking garages warning the public of the change.

John Reid: You Ask The Questions
9:52 PM
I am a lifelong Labour supporter. If you bring in compulsory identity cards, I will have no option but to vote Tory. Do you really want to be back on the opposition benches? LAURA MARCUS, Leek, Staffs I strongly believe ID cards will bring huge benefits. No British citizen will be compelled to carry an ID card. Do you like being compared with Fulton Mackay who played the prison officer in Porridge? IVOR YELOFF, Norwich It's not a comparison I'd heard before. I've had much worse. He was a great actor, and the role was terrific. You state you used to be a member of the Communist Party, but you also used to believe in Father Christmas. How old were you when you stopped believing in Father Christmas, and how old when you left the Communist Party? COLIN BURKE, Manchester
