ID cards lacking support

The Prime Minister might claim the scheme has overwhelming support, but this is not reflected in the results of a poll on News Shopper's site.In our vote opinion was divided almost exactly down the middle.A total of 46.9 per cent of people who responded said they are in favour of ID cards. However, another 50.8 per cent of people voted against the scheme.

Joining forces to celebrate past and future

Pupils have created a series of drawings, poems and designs with artists-in- residence Carlos Pinatti and Anne Gibbs of the charity Groundwork, based on artefacts, photographs and the history of Duffryn Rhondda Colliery.All of these will now be used to craft sculptures and other symbols linked to the industrial era, such as miners' ID badges and boundary markers.

When projects are finished, employees crave evaluation. "They want lots and lots of recognition,"sighed one manager. Employees at another company practically stopped working until executives procured fancier ID badges, simply because friends at nearby companies had such badges.I idled away half a day in the Bangalore airport, waiting for a delayed flight for Hyderabad, watching well-dressed Indian families also waiting for flights to various local destinations. Everyone looked well fed, many bordering on plump. Teenage boys grinned, flashing
silver braces on their teeth. Gold bracelets jangled on the arms of young women as they snapped open the latest Motorola Razr cell phones. We all flipped through the local papers, which carried big stories about cricket match championships, the latest Bollywood scandal and advertisements for luxury apartments.

CIPI Launches European Line Of Expiring Visitors Badges

CIPI Europe B.V. is unveiling at Cartes this year a new line of its TempBadge identification badges that change colors when they expire, a technology designed for visitor ID badges. The product will be offered through the company?s European partners. Based in Hilversum near Amsterdam, CIPI Europe is a subsidiary of U.S.-based Comprehensive Identification Products Inc.

UWI, NCU tighten security after Sunday Observer exposé

Students and staff are now required to display their ID cards at all entry points to the campus as well as in classes, and temporary workers have to prominently display their colour-coded IDs at all times."It [the Sunday Observer report] raised a consciousness without dire consequences. That, to me, is good reporting," he said, adding that the abduction of Dr Stewart on the UWI Mona campus by people he thought were students, was evidence that security needs to be a
priority.Thompson said inconsistency was the origin of the laxness on his campus.
