No more hoodies, flip-flops at school: Randolph OKs dress code despite student protests
Senior Leah Yoffe felt that requiring teachers to check to make sure students are wearing their ID badges and are complying with the dress code ??will take more time out of learning.??Senior Eric Kanopkin said the dress code is ??just taking away our rights, telling us you?re protecting us.??Wearing a Randolph High football hoodie and taking off his Red Sox cap worn backwards before speaking to the committee,Senior William MacKinnon said that by imposing the restrictions, the committee is ??basically taking away all our individuality.

It's all new for Ike, Davis freshmen
Freshmen at Davis and Eisenhower high schools will now be impossible to miss.
The 2006-07 school year will bring several changes for Yakima School District's incoming freshmen, including neon yellow identification badges.In the past, freshmen wore ID badges, but they were the same color as the ones for students in other grades.The Class of 2010 at both high schools will also have closed-campus lunches and new approaches to keeping classes focused. Unlocking Fingerprints
The technology has been the stuff of movies for years: A secret agent runs his fingertip and an encrypted ID card over a pair of sensors. There's a match, and the door swings open.In the coming months, a wave of government initiatives could start making such high-tech methods of identification commonplace -- beginning with the replacement this fall of federal employee IDs. Similar cards are planned for transportation workers, first responders and visitors to the United States.

One major modification to Waukesha County's security manual for Barron County's specific needs was the addition of a visitor badge to the protocol."Anyone in the secure area of the building ought to be wearing a (visitor) badge," Babler said. He said he often sees people he is not familiar with walking through the secure hallways. They could be new employees, electricians fixing lights or people with other legit reasons for being there, but it's difficult to know for sure without a uniform means of identification.Visitor badges should be a different color than employee ID badges, to make them stand out, committee members agreed.
