Schools get upbeat progress report
Principals from both Hillside and Southern joined a state administrator to discuss their immediate improvement goals. Many of the plans will be implemented today, as students are returning to class.Starting immediately, Hillside will issue every student ID badges that show which lunch period a student is supposed to attend to combat skipped classes.

New resource officers ready to offer hand to educators
High school students are required to carry ID badges now, but not wear them. The district is considering changing that policy so the students will be required to wear the badges so they are visible.Burley said a visible ID badge would be a way for teachers to identify someone immediately as a student of their school. The school board is scheduled to vote on the policy change in September.

been since 1952.Northampton Area High School students will have new fashion accessory this school year: lanyards with photo ID badges -- it?s a must-have. Literally. Last night the school board voted to mandate that students wear the badges at all times. School board will again require ID badges
Prior to that, however, the wearing of ID badges had become a hot issue among some teachers and other personnel. The flap was touched off in January 2005, when board members noted that some employees had gotten lax in
displaying the photo ID cards as required by an approximately three-year-old policy. At that time, the board approved a get-tough policy requiring that everyone ? employees, volunteers, visitors, etc. ? wear an ID badge while on school property. Full Article from Times-News.
