No delay for secure border ID cards, Chertoff says
Nor has the U.S. determined whether Canadians will need their own border ID card, or be able to use driver's licences and birth certificates with new security features.To address those problems, the U.S. Senate last month passed legislation that would delay implementation of the border plan by 18 months, to June 1, 2009.EThe bill would allow the U.S. government time to develop the technology required to produce a new border card for American citizens, and to give Ottawa time to improve Canadian travel documents to meet the new security requirements.

RFID system aids hospital in tracking assets
Chaiken said that in the future, he hopes to see RFID evolve into a system that encompasses the entire hospital, and tags doctors along with patients. If tags could be added to hospital ID badges, doctors would not only

BP Refinery Uses RFID for Evacuation System
Previously, the refinery used bar-coded ID cards to track who entered and who left the facility. It replaced them with a passive RFID badge, which could allow employees access to and from the refinery through a turnstile. The new system covers a 600,000-square-foot area broken into about eight different sections, each with a monitor that operators can use to determine who is still in that area of the facility during an emergency.

Class of '41 reunites
At the reunion, alumni wore ID badges with their high school senior pictures on them. Yearbooks were passed around, and almost every picture brought back a memory. ''Look at the socks,'' said Estelle Mercer Hawke of San Angelo, pointing to her drill team picture. ''I can't believe I wore anklets.''
