Canadians to Need ID Cards, Day Says
The British Commons has just adopted legislation for a government-issued national ID card and Stockwell Day suggested in an interview with The Canadian Press that such a card is inevitable for Canada. "At this point, I don't know what it should be called, to tell you the truth," Day said.

Fans are angry
In the past, the youth team collection, run by the Supporters Trust have experienced problems. The club suspended the Trust from collecting until they had a formal policy, secure collection tins and had ID badges. It will be interesting to see if they allow the Millers to collect, if they do not have any of that in place.

School face lift under way
Temporary walls of double-thick gypsum board are used to keep the sections of the school under renovation isolated from students. Construction workers on site are also required to wear ID badges. "We do not allow construction workers and students to come in contact with one another, period," Stepp said.

Say 'cheese'
To an American eye it looks so severe and dour. My hunch is that it?s because there aren't all that many personal cameras on the continent. Most photos here are taken for formal portraits, passport pictures, ID badges, etc. That's in contrast to the US, where most photos are informal snapshots taken with the millions of cameras that Americans own.

First time ever Company I.D. chips implanted
When some of us go to work we are given I.D. badges or verification numbers, but for the first time ever you and your I.D. may become one. In Cincinnati two small silicon chips were implanted into two workers who volunteered to help test the new found technology at a surveillance equipment company. The chips are known to be as radio frequency identification chips or RFIDs. The technology for the first time is now surfacing in the U.S., used only by the Mexican attorney general to help deny access to employees into secure areas.

ID cards threaten to reveal Blair's identity as a powerless Prime Minister
TONY BLAIR is facing a crunch week in his premiership as MPs gear up for a series of key votes on controversial reforms. Today sees a Commons vote on the introduction of ID cards, with a ban on smoking in public places in England following tomorrow. A move to outlaw glorification of terrorism is on Wednesday.

What the Sunday papers said
The academic who criticised the government's identity card scheme has compared himself to Dr David Kelly, the scientist who killed himself over the Iraq weapons scandal. Simon Davies, a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE), said that after he contributed to LSE research - which suggested ID cards would cost more than £300 versus the government's claimed figure of £93 - repeated criticism from ministers and Home Secretary Charles Clarke has threatened his livelihood.
