UK Transsexuals 'to get 2 ID cards'
Transsexuals who have yet to have a sex-change operation will be entitled to two ID cards, Home Office Minister Lady Scotland of Asthal has said. One would be in their gender at birth and the other in their legally-acquired "gender of designation".

Columbia to roll out biometric ID cards
Columbia is to roll out one of the largest biometric-based national ID card projects in Latin America. New Colombian laws state that all citizens will have to carry the new ID card before 31 December 2009. As a result, all systems will be delivered and operational by the end of 2006.

Whitehall's £1.7 billion case for ID cards is 'claptrap'
But critics said ID cards could make identity theft worse, not better, and they also challenged the veracity of the statistics used by the Government to support its case.

Orange High begins tighter enforcement of school rules
In addition, students are being required to wear the color-coded ID badges to enter the cafeteria during their lunch period. If students do not have their badges, they are directed to an alternate lunch site, said Slade.
Infractions of the new policies include penalties such as being escorted to class by security guards, being assigned to the Alternative Discipline Counseling Academic Program, and possible Saturday detention service. Full Article from Localsource.com.

Lords defeat government over ID cards watchdog
The report stage of the ID cards bill in the House of Lords was completed on Monday with peers voting for the ID card watchdog to be appointed by the Crown instead of the Home Secretary and for the watchdog to report to parliament and not the Home Secretary.

ID cards of 'limited value' in terror war
Lord Carlile added his voice to those of the sceptics yesterday, telling GMTV's Sunday Programme: "ID cards could be of some value in the fight against terrorism but they are probably of quite limited value. "I cannot think of a terrorist incident in which ID cards could have brought the incident to an earlier end. Generally, from a security viewpoint, in the curtailment of civil liberties, I think Parliament is so unenthused about ID cards. It's a debate, not a reality."

Thailand: Dupe ID Smart Cards Snafu
More than 100,000 "smart" ID cards which are currently being issued to the public have been found to have duplicate unique serial numbers and as such have been rendered all but useless for the purpose of national identification. The revelation was made by one of the bidders for the 888-million Baht 12-million card project who is still closely following the case.
