AS THE debate on
identity cards rumbles on the Bishop of Oxford, the Rt Rev Richard Harries, has become the first senior church figure to speak out in favour of the Identity Card Bill in the Lords. During the second reading of the Bill on Monday, Bishop Harries stated that although he would vote for the controversial measure, the real anxiety would be felt by those from ?minority ethnic communities?. He said: ?There is a real concern that [ID cards] will mean even more targeting of black and Asian people.?
