More students switching to plastic to pay for lunches

Forget getting beat up for your milk money - kids now pay for school lunch with a debit card. For the past seven years, Turlock Unified School District has used a debit-type program at it's school cafeterias. The program works like this - parents pre-pay for their child's lunch in the school office, placing money onto student cards by check usually, said Scott Soiseth, director of food services for the district. Opponents to Fight Ga.Voter ID Bill

Opponents of the bill aren't going down without a fight. The new bill requires voters to show a state-issued photo identification card to vote. Items such as a social security card, birth certificate, or utility bill will no longer suffice for identification.Governor Perdue promises free photo identification cards to people who can't afford the fee. He has also announced a mobile program: going to voter neighborhoods to help them get their photo ID cards. Opponents worry, however, saying one bus could hardly handle Atlanta, much less the whole state of Georgia.
