Travelers to Need Passport to Come Home

Flashing your driver's license when returning from jaunts to Mexico, Canada or the Caribbean won't be enough in a few years after federal officials announced plans to tighten re-entry rules.
Currently, Americans generally need to show a driver's license or other government-issued photo identification to cross the border from Canada.Customs officials usually require more proof from Americans returning from the other countries affected by the new rules, including both government-issued photo IDs like a driver's license plus proof of citizenship like a birth certificate.

The Boxford Assessor's Office will be conducting its Cyclical Property Inspection Project as an ongoing project through June 2005. This project consists of re-measuring and re-listing properties that have not been visited since 1994.The assessors have contracted with Vision Appraisal Technology Inc. to complete this project. Representatives from Vision Appraisal Technology Inc. will be performing the inspections for the town of Boxford. They will be wearing a photo identification badge at all times and their vehicles will be identified as the Boxford Assessor's. Their vehicle information will also be on record with the police department.

Georgia photo ID bill could keep some away from polls

Making it impossible for a noncitizen to vote in our political elections is a good idea. But, unfortunately, eliminating some of the materials used for identification at the voting booth only keeps out some of the American citizens who should be voting.Government-issued, photo identification doesn't guarantee that you are a legitimate citizen. Fake photo IDs are easy to obtain, and an added barrier to voting may encourage some to prove that they can beat the system.

Glastonbury Festival Organiser in Internet Tickets Warning

Glastonbury Festival organisers today warned music lovers to steer clear of highly-priced tickets being offered on the internet.The tickets were initially offered with the loan of personal ID and utility bills but the seller later withdrew the help and added that the tickets were for souvenir only.Festival organiser Michael Eavis said he was confident the new photo ID system was ?watertight? and said touts had already been put off by the new measures.He said the number of tickets on sale on the internet was much lower than last year with around six compared with around 100 at the same stage last year.He acknowledged some people did get through the system with false identification last year but said the new photo ID system was a ?huge advance?.

When is RFID not RFID?

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently denied that it is planning to use RFID for its employee ID Badges. Instead DHS asserts it intends to use ISO 14443 (Contactless Smart Cards) which it claims is a different kind of RF.It's not. It's just a different application of RFID.The question is why the DHS felt it necessary to claim that Contactless Smart Cards (CSC) are not RFID. It seems as if they wanted to avoid a PR problem but they seem to have created an even larger one.

The blood shortage is continuing.To give blood, one must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo identification is usually required. Blood can be given every 56 days.Those with Type-O blood, both positive and negative, and those with a negative RH factor are especially needed, as those blood types can be given to anyone.
