Overlays

Overlays extend the life of cards by way of a clear barrier that protects against fading, scratches and friction. They also add a layer of security by making the cards difficult to alter or copy. Holographic overlays not only protect but also enhance visual security with light-catching watermarks.

There are two options for adding overlays to cards: in printer and by hand. Laminating ID card printers apply an overlay during the printing process by way of an “O” ribbon or the “O” portion of a combined ribbon. Some ID card printers can upgrade to overlay ability with a module.
