Key Cards vs. ID Cards for Access Control

Key cards are small cards designed to be kept on a key ring. When combined with contactless smart badge technology, they provide hands-free access control. Because key cards stay attached to one’s keys, they are hard to lose or forget. Encased in molded plastic, contactless smart badges are a durable and convenient solution for building access. ID cards can be cumbersome, difficult to keep track of and more susceptible to theft. However, unlike key cards with contactless badge technology, ID cards can have information and images printed upon them.
