Card Stock Care
It may not seem as important as caring for the printer itself, but taking care of blank card stock is important for ensuring efficient printing and a high quality end product. Card stock is the canvas for ID cards, and any flaws in the stock will be reflected, and maybe even magnified, in the final product. Luckily, keeping blank PVC cards in tip top shape is one of the easiest ways to assure the best looking cards possible.
Keeping blank cards clean and free from debris and dust is the best way to maintain PVC cards. Any stray dust or debris on the surface on the card can not only cause imperfections and flaws on the surface of a printed ID card, but can also damage print heads and other printing mechanisms inside the badge printer.

How to Maintain Optimum Card Printer Performance Card Stock CareThe easiest way to keep cards clean? Keep them in the case they came in, or in an air-and-watertight container to protect them until printing. Inspect the cards before feeding them into the printer, and keep a dust cloth on hand to wipe off any dirt, dust, or debris that might appear.
Card storage temperatures can also be an issue - extremes of cold and heat can damage PVC cards, making them more brittle and susceptible to snapping. Keep blank card stock in a temperature controlled area, being careful not to let cards undergo drastic temperature changes.
