Instead of printing directly on the card, the HDP5000 prints onto a special film, which is then bonded to the plastic card using pressure and heat. The result? Consistent over-the-edge color, even if embedded smart chips cause ridges in a card's surface. Plus, any attempt to pull the film away from the card will destroy the image, making your ID badges nearly impossible to alter. If you choose, you may install a magnetic stripe encoder or smart chip encoder in the field or the factory so that your printer's functions can expand along with your business.
