An overlaminate is a thin, clear layer that bond to cards. Adding an overlaminate layer provides protection against tampering, duplication and wear and tear. Also available are holographic overlaminates, which increase visual security. Laminating ID card printers use an “O” ribbon or the “O” portion of a ribbon to produce the overlaminate effect.
For an economical alternative, self-adhesive stickers or overlays can be applied to cards by hand.
