Magicard HoloKote
HoloKote is an exclusive technology that adds a hologram-like watermark over an ID card without requiring a lamination unit or any additional supplies. This extra layer of visual security helps prevent unauthorized ID card duplication. HoloKote technology comes built into Magicard Pronto, Enduro3e, and Rio Pro ID Card Printers.
How It Works:
Traditional ID card holograms require special laminating modules that apply holographic film to a card after it has been printed. Although this process provides the highest level of durability & security, it also adds a significant amount of cost.
HoloKote works by using the overlay panel in a standard YMCKO or YMCKOK ribbon to “burn” a watermark over the card design. Since HoloKote technology uses standard blank cards & standard ribbons, it adds no additional costs.
Standard HoloKote Designs:
Standard HoloKote designs come built into all Magicard ID Card Printers. It’s easy to switch between HoloKote designs, to turn off sections of the design, or turn off the HoloKote feature all together using the printer driver.
Custom HoloKote Designs:
For increased security, custom HoloKote designs are available for the Rio Pro Printer. Customizing the HoloKote design ensures that ID cards cannot be duplicated, since the each custom design requires a secure key. The custom HoloKote keys are programmed at a secure Magicard facility and are only accessible to the authorized organization. Custom HoloKote Flex ($650)
The custom HoloKote flex image allows a larger image to be placed anywhere on the card front and is ideal for seals or other detailed security images.
Custom HoloKote ($550)
The custom HoloKote image is repeated 24 times across the cards in a 4x6 grid. The printer driver allows you to turn off sections of the grid to prevent the watermark from printing over certain areas of card.

Holopatch Cards:
While HoloKote can protect cards from tampering and forgery, the nature of the watermark requires close-up inspection to verify card authenticity. HoloPatch cards provide a distance-visible mark allowing the badge to be verified from distance of six feet or more.
HoloPatch Cards contain a highly reflective gold patch, which makes a HoloKote watermark clearly visible under any lighting condition. HoloKote with HoloPatch has an appearance similar to holographic patches, at a fraction of the cost.
HoloPatch cards can only be used with Magicard printers, and are compatible with standard & custom HoloKote designs. They are available in standard, adhesive, or magnetic stripe versions.
