Dual-Sided Printing and Lamination The HDP5000 duplex ID card printer with dual-sided lamination prints and laminates both the front and the back of a card with no hassle, no wasted time, and no excess energy. With a single-sided printer, precious time is lost in manually flipping and reloading cards, but with a duplex model, the machine does all the work for you. Dual-sided lamination provides a protective coat to both sides of your cards. The laminate protects from UV light, everyday wear and tear and also helps to greatly reduce the risk of fraudulent reproduction. High Definition Printing The Fargo HDP5000 utilizes high definition printing to produce crisp and detailed images and text. Images and text are first printed on a special high definition film. That film is then affixed to the surface of the card. The results are high quality images that are far superior to those produced by an ordinary card printer. Additionally, this process eliminates direct contact between the print head and the card so there’s less risk of damage. The HDP film also serves as an additional layer of protection from the elements. Ease-of-Use Ribbons, cards and lamination materials for the HDP5000 are cartridge-based, so switching out supplies is literally a snap. The cleaning process is also quite simple, and each Fargo ribbon purchase includes a cleaning roller so it’s easy to stay on top of things. The actual printing process is also rather intuitive, and the SmartScreen LCD panel helps by providing status messages and concise directions.
