Adhesive-back cards, also called sticky-back cards, are typically used with technology cards that are too thick for some ID card printers. Card information is first printed on the thin adhesive-back cards and then affixed to the thicker technology card.

Zebra recently introduced a new firmware release, version 2.00 for their line of Value class card printers including the P100i, P110m, P110i, and P120i. This release replaces the current firmware version 1.18.25 and is compatible with the current version 8.00 Value class driver.

Last week we announced that Magicard has made 64-bit drivers available for its most popular ID card printer models. Well, they weren't the only ones. Zebra and Fargo are also providing updated printer drivers that support 64-bit computers and systems, while Evolis and Datacard already have 64-bit drivers available.

Zebra's Performance Class card printers are getting an upgrade, thanks to new firmware and driver versions that offer a number of key enhancements. These updates apply to all Zebra P330i, P330m, and P430i card printers. New printers will include these enhancements, while those of you who are already using one of these printers can immediately download the firmware and driver straight from Zebra.

When we think about high-definition card printers, the first thing that comes to mind is the enhanced print quality. High-def printers such as the Fargo HDP5000 and the new Zebra ZXP Series 8 are know for their ability to produce photo-quality cards with vivid colors and sharp images and text, but that's not their only benefit. These printers are also built to last, and they offer the flexibility to print on multiple card types.

Zebra's ZXP Series 8 ID card printer is on display at the ASIS International conference in Anaheim. The Zebra ZXP Series 8 is the company's new foray into the world of retransfer card printing. Retransfer (or high-definition) printing is an innovative process where the elements of your card design, such as images and text, are printed on the reverse side of a special film which is then fused to the card surface. The process results in photo-quality cards with true over-the-edge printing.
